Do I need to know how to play guitar?
Not at all. No music theory, no prior instrument experience needed. Melo-D uses on-screen visual guidance and a light-up neck — the lights tell you exactly where to press. It's more like following a game than learning an instrument. You pick it up as you go.
How long will it take to play my first song?
Most people are playing along by the second half of their first song. AI Tab mode is designed to be pick-up-and-play — there's no learning curve before you start having fun.
Can I play any song?
Yes! There are a few ways to get started:
  • Upload an audio file — drop in any track and Melo-D transcribes it instantly.
  • Hum the melody — no file needed. Just hum it into Melo-D and it figures out the rest.
Either way, Melo-D arranges it into a fingerstyle solo tab or a chord chart for sing-along play — then syncs it directly to your guitar.
Can I create my own original music?
Yes — two ways. AI Jam lets you select a tone, genre, and vibe directly on the guitar's touchscreen, and the AI generates a complete original piece you can play right away — no phone, no typing, everything stays on the guitar. Hum-to-Solo works differently: open the Melo-D app and hum a melody into your phone — the AI turns it into a full playable fingerstyle solo and syncs it directly to your guitar.
Do I need my phone to use it?
No. The companion app requires an internet connection — this is where you use AI Tab to generate tabs. Once a song is synced to the guitar, you're free to put your phone away and just play. The guitar runs completely standalone from that point on.
Is the music generated by Melo-D royalty-free? And who owns it?

Yes — all music generated by Melo-D is 100% original. We power our AI music features using a combination of our own models and select best-in-class third-party AI models, chosen based on the creative scenario to ensure the highest quality output. We don't rely on any third-party licensed music libraries, so there are no royalty concerns.

The music you generate belongs to you. We just ask that you keep the "Created with TemPolor Melo-D" label visible when sharing — please don't remove or cover it. Note that generated music lives on your guitar and isn't available for export as an audio file at this time.

When will Melo-D ship?
Our Kickstarter campaign runs from May to July. We're targeting delivery to US backers starting in September.
What is your return policy?
All sales are final — we don't offer returns or exchanges. That said, every Melo-D comes with a 1-year limited warranty from the date of delivery. For service instructions, please refer to the Limited Warranty section in the user manual.
